On the 28th of June 2023, the event “Development of the Padano-Veneto port and waterway system”, organised by the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority and Infrastrutture Venete Srl was held at the Veneto Region’s headquarters in Brussels to present the results of two projects financed by the Connecting Europe Facility programme.
The projects “Channeling the Green deal for Venice” and “VIEWWS” aim at improving the accessibility of the port of Venice and removing the main infrastructure bottlenecks of the important regional waterway network. The event was attended by key players, including representatives from the Veneto Region, the European Parliament, DG Regio and CINEA.
During the evening, an interesting debate was held on the role of navigability in promoting environmental sustainability as an engine for economic growth, in which the importance of involving the greatest number of stakeholders and authorities was also emphasized as essential to foster collaborative dynamics and thus guarantee the effectiveness and efficiency of projects to promote the sustainable development of the entire network.
